Comet National Conference
Saturday 18th June 2011.
Are you interested in finding new ways of building the literacy skills
of young people?
Do you want new ideas to develop cross-curricular activities?
Have you ever wanted to develop young people’s confidence and engagement
with their community?
Ever wanted to use media platforms to raise attainment but never known
how to do it?
Have you ever wanted to get young people broadcasting on radio or
podcasting?
If so then COMET can help to make things easier for you. COMET brings
together the Country’s leading practitioners in the field of young
people and media to help teachers, youth services, community groups, the
voluntary sector and others to support young people getting involved in
these activities. The Children’s Organisation for Media Education and
Training (COMET) is proud to present its first national conference. The
conference will provide expert advice and guidance on broadcasting with
children and young people. Keynotes and case studies will show the range
of opportunities to engage children and young people in broadcasting,
while workshops will show you how to link it to the curriculum, fund
raising activities, and how to set it up with ease! In addition, there
will be trade stands, information from teacher’s and teaching groups,
comment from children and young people, and the chance to ask questions
to people in the industry.
Speakers include the CMA, teachers and practitioner, trade stands from
PPL, P Squared, and others, and information from Ofcom on approaching
broadcasting.
