[cma-l] radio scrappage scheme

Looks like the same sort of mild scam as the Government scrappage schemes on other 'legacy' products - participating dealers discounting from their regular prices that have a 'marketing margin' built in, down to prices that are no better than can be found elsewhere!

For example, a typical 'cheap' DAB radio, the PURE Siesta Clock Radio at the participating stores online is £52 from Comet, £55 from Argos, £57 from Tesco, £59 from John Lewis, but available at £45-£51 from plenty of other retailers. There's your supposed 10-20% discount! (NB FM/AM radios of similar spec cost typically £15-£30!)

NB Sainsbury's had the same PURE radio on £9.99 promotion (yes - under £10), but guess what... it's out of stock and they aren;t taking back orders!

The reconditioning of the disposed sets and sending to South Africa is a nice touch, but someone these sorts of schemes also often seem to be the vehicle for little scams of their own!
