As well as multichip including FM we should be pressing DCMS to mandate (or even bet get Europe to mandate) that radios approved for the digital transitions age should include not only the 'crumb' of tuning by name, but should provide also provide their full range of function supported by current FM and digital transmission - eg scrolling text, 'now playing', traffic/news headlines etc and live record/pause. All of these functions are perfectly well possible on FM as well as DAB, and are already supported in several countries - no new transmisison infrastructure or standards changes are needed, just decent exploitations of the chipset and data carrying capacity of RDS.

Do 'stay on the case' and push the limits!

We are consistently highlighting the major issues and are giving evidence this very day to DCMS.

This is a publicity stunt by the big boys and will only sow confusion in the public understanding.

There is NO agenda re "switchover" from FM. Noone should contemplate buying a digital radio unless it is multichip including FM.

We will stay on the case on your behalf for as long as it takes
