[cma-l] Digital Progress Report for Radio - Floored Research

The Digital Progress Report has some serious omissions which throws into
question the validity of the research.

25% of the country's FM stations are missing.

By not including community radio station in the analogue FM station count
biases the progress towards digital listening. While these stations have
would have a relatively small reach within their Transmission Area, even a
conservative 3%-6% would mean than this is still approaching half that of
DAB listening.

The report chooses to ignore millions of FM radios.

By not including all FM radios, specifically those in mobile phones, how can
the research be truly accurate. Again penetration may be relatively small,
but so are DAB radios in vehicles. This is reported as 1%, which accounts
for just 350,000 of weekly listeners across the whole UK. Its beggars
believe that, given the ubiquitous mobile phone with FM radio, at least an
equivalent number or more are being used to listen to an analogue FM
station.
