[cma-l] Business Rates For Community Stations

We have a 50% reduction from our local authority.
Not because we are a community organisation, nor because we are a charity (we aren't - we are a Company Limited by Guarantee) but simply because we are a small business and only operate from one building. This reduction is available to all small businesses locally.
I don't know whether there are national rules on this but I suspect this is discretionary, i.e. each local authority can apply their own rules within an overall framework. I think Andy is right about charities though - this is why charity shops fill many high streets!
