This year's Belfast Community Arts Initiative has opened to applications.

The 2009-2010 scheme is designed to assist community groups attend
arts activities workshops, including drama, dance, fashion, film
making, and sculpture and carnival arts.

The seminars will be run by professional artists and focus on the
themes of integration and inter-community group processes. The
sessions will also provide the setting for cross-community,
inter-cultural and inter-ability projects.

The programme is intended to act as a consultation for the voluntary
and community sector in Belfast to provide information on the value of
community arts initiatives and how best to engage groups.

Applications are restricted to groups operating under a Belfast
postcode and preference will be shown to groups who have not
participated in collective creative arts before and who would like to
strengthen links within their own community or establish relationships
within the wider community.

The scheme is funded jointly by the Arts Council for Northern Ireland
and the Rural Development Council, along with the Republic of
Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
