Steve,

Yes, acknowledged that you did refer to community television, thank
you...

I disagree with your analysis.
... a tremendous body of work showing the public benefits of
community/local television has been done over the last ten years, the
last of which was submitted by CMA to DCMS this year. There is also a
substantial body of supportive opinion on community/local television
on the Ofcom website, submitted at the PSB Review last year and
several EDMs, Hansard and other documents. Of course there is also
Ofcom's Digital Local among others.

Personally, although all of this is very welcome as 'evidence', what
is more meaningful for ourselves in Northern Visions is that the
community media sector and the local groups we work with believe we
have a social impact.... hence my email for a more inclusive policy.

I think it does no harm to talk of the community media sector rather
than compartmentalising various distribution outlets, some of us have/
and are/or may wish to extend our community media activities to radio
to television to broadband and any other communication platforms
available. There are a number of community radio stations who have
informed Ofcom of their wish to provide community television (or vice
versa).

The fund, as far as I am aware, is not just for radio in the 2003 Act,
I think that may be your interpretation?
It is already inclusive of television so why make two campaigns when
one is sufficient?

Best wishes,
Marilyn
