What is your station or community media group doing for this year's
Refugee Week? It's just over a month to go till Refugee Week starts on
15th June, see:

http://www.refugeeweek.org.uk

Community radio has a strong role to play in Refugee Week, whether
debating the issues, taking part in an event or training people to
report on what's happening locally - and many stations have always been
involved.

For this year's Refugee Week you're invited to publicise what you're
doing via the RWRadio network, share some of your audio and even host a
live programme.

Have a look at the Refugee Week Radio websites at:

http://www.refugeeweekradio.net

- info and live programmes and:

http://rwradio.ning.com

- network and on demand programme sharing. (Refugee Week Radio is
endorsed by, but separate from, Refugee Week itself.)

Already there are stations and groups from across the country - from
Exeter to Glasgow, from Preston to Norwich, with many more in between,
see:

http://www.refugeeweekradio.net/participating.htm

There are three easy steps to getting involved:

1. Join the RWRadio network at http://rwradio.ning.com

2. Tell everyone about yourself/your organisation - add your logo and
some info, plus a link to your own website. You can also let everyone
know what's going on in your area regarding refugees, asylum,
anti-deportation campaigns, refugee integration, right to work,
citizenship, regularization of irregular migrants, refugee artists and
musicians, migrant communities, refugee support groups etc.
(By this we mean what people are doing all year round - people either
from a refugee background, or supporting refugees in their area - as
well as specific Refugee Week events.) You can use the blog on the
network site to post the information.

3. Load your audio for sharing on to the network site at:

http://rwradio.ning.com

(look for 'Add music').
If you have any relevant audio already recorded, or which could be
recorded soon, please load it up asap and in advance of Refugee Week so
that others can use it too. (MP3/20MB max). Alternatively, tell us its
URL for a link, if it's already online, eg. on www.getmedia.org.uk or on
your www.canstream.co.uk site.

It doesn't have to be long - it could be:
~ a 30 sec/one minute set of voxpops from refugees or about refugees,
~ a 1-2 minute song from someone's home country, which they sing and
introduce
~ a 2-3 minute interview with a refugee artist or musician, or
~ a 4-5 minute feature on a relevant issue or topic (no copyright music)
etc.

Some of the suggestions on the 'Simple Acts' website are useful and lend
themselves to recording. eg. the Refugee Week team have been
encouraging high profile people to 'Define the word refuge' - see:

http://www.refugeeweek.org.uk/simple-acts/twenty-acts/refuge/refuge.htm

Finally...
------------
If your station or group is interested in sending longer programme
material, simulcasting or even hosting one of the days for the Refugee
Week Radio live streaming schedule, please get in touch as soon as
possible so we can reserve your slot.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
