*REACH: Raising the aspirations and attainment of Black boys and young
Black men*

*Regional Workshops: *

*/Supporting Those who Support Young Black Men/*

*A host of regional events aimed specifically at helping Black-led
voluntary and community sector organisations have been announced
       by Cohesion Minister Sadiq Khan.*

*These events form part of the REACH programme - a cross
government initiative which is working to raise the aspirations
and attainment of Black boys and young Black men. *

*These regional events will explore what more central Government
can do to support organisations that may be facing barriers to
accessing funding or who are struggling to expand their work. The
first in a series of five events will kick off in London on March
31st and Cohesion Minister Sadiq Khan will attend.*

*Speaking ahead of the first event Sadiq Khan said:*

“The REACH report, written by an independent group from the Black
community, highlighted that there are many organisations at the
forefront of tackling underachievement of young Black men who are
producing fantastic results, but they are often small in scale and
can face barriers, particularly when trying to access funding. We
are holding these events so that we can help organisations
overcome these barriers, and to look at what central Government
can do to support them in carrying on their vital work.

I hope as many groups and organisations as possible will take up
our offer of support and come and join us at one of the five
events. We all need to work together to make sure that our Black
boys and young Black men get all the support they need and
deserve, so that as many as possible go on to reach their true
       potential"

       *Get Involved!*

Five regional events are being held around the country, starting
with London (31 March) and moving on to Bristol (1 April),
Nottingham (3 April), Manchester (21 April) and ending in
       Birmingham (22 April).

These workshops seek to discuss ways in which these organisations
can be supported to work together, increase capacity and access
funding. Organisations meeting the following criteria are
       particularly welcome:

           o Black-led third sector organisation
o Organisations working to improve life chances for young
             Black men
o Commission services, provide support or offer funds to such
             organisations

These workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to
meet with organisations with similar aims and objectives, as well
as representatives from organisations who support infrastructure
building in voluntary organisations and those who commission
services and provide funding. Participants will get the chance to
share best practice, get tips on how to access funding and
       influence Central Government thinking.
