Good Afternoon, a couple of weeks ago I sent out an email asking for
contributions to a video on what makes community media great. I am happy
to say I have had a great response to this and I am in the process of
receiving videos from across the UK.
I have had a couple of emails from people asking if there is other ways
they could get involved as they don’t have the time to make a video.
Happily the answer is yes and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell
you a bit more about the session at the CMA Weekend.
The session about community media successes is primarily about us, as a
sector taking time to pat ourselves on the back for the long hours we
put in and the difference our work makes. We will be having a
presentation from 103The Eye, the first community radio station in the
United Kingdom to begin broadcasting on a full five-year license. We
will be showing the video which I have been told will also be repeated
during some of the breaks. There will be a good chunk of the session
dedicated to talking about our successes and perhaps looking into how we
can create something which can be used to convince the people with cash
in their pockets that we are the ones who can make their money work for
them.
If you haven’t booked your place at the conference yet I would urge you
to do so, we get so little time to gather as a sector and the CMA is
giving us a venue to do this. I have heard the lunch is going to be
quite good too. I hate to make this sound like a sales pitch but for two
days of networking, sharing of ideas and potentially walking away with
new ideas and potential directions £20 is not bad.
There is a link on the front page of http://www.commedia.org.uk
I look forward to seeing you there.
