The European section of the World Association of Community Radio
Broadcasters (AMARC Europe) will hold in the framework of AMARC 25th
Anniversary activities the Pan European Conference « Community Radio
in Europe: Broadcasting on the Edge ». The Pan European Conference
will gather more than one hundred community radio broadcasters and
stakeholders from more than 30 countries across Europe to meet and
develop strategies to strengthen community radio across the region –
particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. The Conference is part of
the reorganisation of AMARC Europe and it is organized jointly with
the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) in Bucharest. To register

AMARC Europe's Bucharest conference will focus on how AMARC can most
effectively contribute to help increase the impact of the community
radio movement across Europe. For AMARC Europe, the conference and the
General Assembly will allow the organization to finalize its strategic
plan and activities for 2009-2010, including reaching decisions on
common strategies concerning digital broadcasting switch over, sharing
information and programming across wide areas within the region,
making plans for social action broadcasting in areas such as HIV/AIDS
and the environment, and plans for training and capacity building for
women broadcasters in Europe.

Through service to members, networking and project implementation, the
World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters AMARC, brings
together a network of more than 4,000 community radios, Federations
and community media stakeholders in more than 115 countries. The main
global impact of AMARC since its creation in 1983, has been to
accompany and support the establishment of a world wide community
radio sector that has democratized the media sector. AMARC advocates
for the right to communicate at the international, national, local and
neighbourhood levels and defends and promotes the interests of the
community radio movement through solidarity, networking and
Cooperation.
