[cma-l] Community radio - service contracts with local authorities

Dear all

A while ago Jaqui Devereux posted a link to Guide to Service Level
Agreements for UK Community Radio Stations, which was very interesting.

When we were an RSL group we would regularly advertise our Local Authority's
Road Safety and Environmental services in return for cash. Since we went
ful ltime 18 months ago, we haven't a penny - despite the fact they're
continually "expressing an interest" in doing something with us, and now
it's coming to a head.

We're in a situation where we "do a lot" for our local authority - both
councillors and officers are regular visitors to the station to talk about
what they're up to. We also publicise the council's events, news and
campaigns.

They've now asked me for examples of existing service contracts between
community radio station and local government. Do any Community Radio
stations actually have such an agreement in place, where for an annual fee
they undertake a certain level of advertising and publicity?

Many thanks
Paul Golder
