Hi Chris, as Steve said in his reply there is already lots for a 
studio/duty manager to do (a better term than engineer, as the 
description you gave clearly does not merit this title). The majority of 
volunteers should be capable of managing the technical side of operating 
the mixer etc. For those that cannot manage this, another  volunteer 
should be used as a Technical Operator.

Stuck with training for prodcution, show prep etc then again feel free 
to drop me a line.
