Hi Chris,

Here at Salford City Radio we train all our volunteers to desk drive
themselves, and this eliminates any of the issues you are experiencing
- but more importantly giving maximum benefits to the volunteers in
terms of confidence, self esteem and proper radio experience.

If you want to see some of our training plans, just let me know.

My policy is to make the tech part of radio presentation very simple -
and we get most people fully desk happy within a couple of hours...then
the training really begins with show plans, prep and content production.

There are a couple of individuals who for one reason or another cannot
desk drive...so we get another volunteer to do it!

In terms of staffing, we have two "studio managers" who look after the
day to day business such as letting volunteers in, checking show prep,
helping with last minute edits, brewing up, answering phones, producing
the news and locking up. (And about 1000 other things a day too.)

That's the set up here. Hope it helps.

Kindest Regards
Steve Suttie
