Hi
Quoting Ian: "Myriad isn't expensive when you consider what you are
likely to pay for the rest of your studio equipment - £600 for the
audio-wall only for three machines and £2300 for the full system."
I'd just like to add that there are many hidden extras with Myriad, as
we have discovered to the exhaustion of our chequebook!
Keep it in mind that you need 4 available channels on your desk, plus
the £400 soundcard and XLR - Jack cables for each work station. And then
the list grows and grows depending on your needs and requirements, IE -
do you want the Myriad keyboard? If so add £150! Do you want to be able
to admin Myriad on another workstation so you are not sharing the
machine with the on air presenter when scheduling? Add £400.
If you are automating some output and want a reasonable shuffle of
tracks - add £800. I could go on...
We use Myriad and its very good, but I think the price of £2300 is a tad
misleading and I would hate for a colleague to put this much cash up for
"a remote control car with no wheels or batteries or remote control,
either" to invent a phrase.
If you have very basic requirements, a decent PC...and £300 to invest in
a piece of software that does an incredible amount check out
http://www.otsav.com/buy/radio/ its perfect for a small station with a
small budget. You can have a 30 day trial too!
Nope...I don't have any ties to them - they are in Australia but I've
used this before I was lucky enough to keep writing checks out to Myriad!
Good luck.
Kindest Regards
