To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport
when he plans to announce the preferred candidate to provide the new
national spine for local television.

In response to the Local Media Action Plan Consultation which closes
on 13 April 2011, over 20 expressions of interest to run a new network
channel to support local services have been received. We are currently
considering all responses to the Local Media Action Plan to help
inform the final model for local TV. The formal award process is
expected to begin this summer, supported by the necessary legislative
changes.
