Bectu threatens Ofcom with legal action over ITV

Broadcasting union Bectu has accused watchdog Ofcom of "hastening the 
demise" of ITV's public sector programming, and threatened to challenge 
it in court if the plans go ahead.

Bectu said allowing ITV to reduce its public service duties would 
represent a "serious failure" by the regulator and pledged to launch a 
judicial review of the decision.

"We don't accept that ITV's obligations should be reduced to a residual 
core," Bectu said in its submission to Ofcom's consultation on public 
service broadcasting.
