Welcome to the Community TV list

This list was created to sustain the momentum of discussions at the "Building an alternative Community Television Network" workshop at the CMA AGM in November this year.  Members of the list include individuals who were previously subscribed to the TV RSL list and a range of new members who have joined since the CMA AGM. Three resolutions were generated at the Television workshop and the CMA Council will review these resolutions at their next meeting in January. The Council will look at ways in which the resolutions can be taken forward in the year ahead and will report on their decision after the meeting.  In the meantime, the Council would like to encourage further discussion and debate to inform the priorities that are put to their meeting in January.

The resolutions from the "Building an alternative Community Television Network" are as follows:

1.The CMA should seek to continue the Millennium Award Scheme specific to film projects with the Community Channel as broadcast partners.

2.This meeting mandates the Council to formalise a working group comprising this workshop group and others who may be co-opted and to resource it (at least to enable meetings)

3. The CMA should put forward a resolution to Ofcom that RSLs, the Community Channel and other community television broadcasters be recognised as public service broadcasters.
