Ofcom has updated its timetable for inviting applications for community
radio licences.</p><p>Applications for inviting licences in
West Midlands, East Midlands (including Lincolnshire) and the east of
England, as well as for services around the UK on AM (medium wave), were anticipated in
the second half of 2013. However, Ofcom has now planned to reschedule for 2014.
</p>
<p>
This rescheduling is necessary primarily due to the large number of
applications received (in October) for services in West and South
Yorkshire, Humberside and North- West England. In fairness to all
applicants and potential applicants Ofcom intends to work on the assessment
of these applications before more are invited from other areas.
</p>
