[comradio-l] Media project intern (youth radio): Stream

Stream is a creative production agency based in the London Borough of
Greenwich, where our programmes bring together innovative art practice
and local people.

This Media Project Coordination (Youth Radio) internship will provide
experience in coordinating a media project engaging young people
outside of formal education, including liaising with artists, tutors
and participants, project planning, monitoring and evaluation,
technical production support, documentation/archiving and
marketing.The project is Fresh FM (www.freshfm.org.uk), a youth radio
station that has run since 2008, with regular web broadcasts. The
radio station is run by a small team of 14-19 year olds, who produce
and present their own monthly broadcasts, with support from youth
services, Stream, and a radio tutor. In 2008 and 2009, Fresh FM
applied for and was awarded two Restricted Service Licenses, and was
able to broadcast live on FM radio to the borough of Greenwich.
Members of the Fresh FM team have also worked with Stream and with
media artists to deliver one-off radio projects with a local youth
theatre group and Charlton School

This position is ideal for people interested in participative arts
programming and management, particularly within media art and arts
projects engaging young people outside of formal education. It is also
valuable experience for people interested in community radio,
independent media and media education.
