Tune in to the AMARC broadcast for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Today the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC)
leads a global, 24-hour live internet broadcast for the Elimination of
Racial Discrimination. Radio Voices Without Frontiers is an
international broadcast campaign of AMARC co-produced in collaboration
with Community Radio stations around the world. This annual campaign
commemorates UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial
Discrimination.

The broadcast explores issues of racism and discrimination in all its
forms and seeks to bring these issues to light through commentary,
reports and documentaries from Community Radio stations worldwide.

International Day for the Elimination
of Racial Discrimination

21 March

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is
observed annually on 21 March. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire
and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South
Africa, against the apartheid "pass laws". Proclaiming the Day in 1966,
the General Assembly called on the international community to redouble
its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination (resolution
2142 (XXI)).
