"The Hillz Are Alive With The Sound Of Music!
New Radio Station Launches on 102.6FM!

>From 6th June to 3rd July, 102.6 The Hillz FM is live across Coventry
broadcasting from their Hillfields studio. As a community radio station
aimed at young people this is the first trial on FM after establishing an
internet radio service earlier this year. The programming is diverse and
varied, with members of the community and young people taking the mic! The
Hillz FM will be playing a mixture of specialist, alternative and world
music as well as unsigned bands and artists. Supported by BBC Children In
Need and Phoenix Area Coordination, the new community station hopes to gain
enough support to apply for a full time FM license later this year. By
working closely with schools and youth centres the station will feature
young people from Sydney Stringer School, Barrs Hill School and Wood End
Youth Centre. It will also feature highly at events, including Hillfields
Events Week, a pre-recorded show from the Jazz festival, the re-opening of
the Yardley St Youth Club and an exclusive DJ Competition. Bill Hall,
Manager of WATCH Ltd said: "The Hillz FM will give voice to all the
communities of Hillfields. The young people in the area have been working
hard and it is an exciting time." The station is keen to hear from anybody
who wants to get involved; in particular people in the community are
encouraged to promote their events, news or information on the community
lunch show. While musicians, DJs and budding presenters should get in touch
to see how they can be involved. Make sure you keep it locked to 102.6 The
Hillz FM!
