<u><b>CALLING ALL RADIO PRODUCTION STUDENTS</b></u> <br>
<br>
The Charles Parker Trust is pleased to announce that this year's
Charles Parker Prize for the Best Student Radio/Audio Feature is
now open for entries. Any student studying radio in FE or HE
throughout the UK can enter a short feature/documentary, between
5-15 minutes long, produced and assessed between March 2017 and
February 22nd 2018. Entry is Free.<br>
<br>
At the beginning of March we will announce FIVE short-listed
features for the The Charles Parker Prize 2018. The nominees will
be invited to The Charles Parker Day on March 23rd to be held this
year in the British Library's Knowledge Centre Theatre in London
where the Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes will be awarded. <br>
</p>
<ul><li> GOLD - 2 week placement in BBC Radio Features Department +
SADiE6 Editing System</li><li>
SILVER - 2 week placement in a Independent Radio Production
company</li><li>
BRONZE - 1 week placement in a Independent Radio Production
company</li></ul><p>
The winning entries will also be transmitted in a special
programme on BBC Radio 4Extra.</p>

The Charles Parker Day 2018 and Award Ceremony takes place in The
Knowledge Centre Theatre, British Library, Euston Road, London on
Friday March 23rd 2018. <br>
<br>
<u><b>'The Radio Ballads and Beyond' </b></u><br>
Sixty years ago the innovative radio producer Charles Parker worked
alongside the musicians Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger to produce the
first of a series of ground-breaking and highly influential radio
features - the Radio Ballads. <br>
<br>
This annual conference, which celebrates the radio feature - past,
present and future, will this year examine the influence of these
ballads on radio feature-making and the power of personal oral
testimony in projects like <i>The Century Speaks</i> and BBC
Radio 4’s <i>The Listening Project</i>. Speakers include <b>Fi
Glover,</b> award-winning radio producers <b>Alan Hall</b>
and <b>Hana Walker Brown</b>, musicians <b>Peggy
Seeger</b> and<b> Calum MacColl</b> and dance music
producer ‘<b>Broadcaster</b>’. More details will follow
shortly. <br>
