I must agree with Ian. I've always been of the view that to talk about a problem can be the creation of a problem ever since I winced when an external youth worker, from a city centre, came to a club where I was helping, started talking about glue-sniffing
which was a problem we had not encountered at our club. Fortunately the problem was not created but I thought it was irresponsible. The laws exist to deal with these unsavoury matters so the authorities are the place to which these should be reported and not

>
> Thanks everyone for your reponses and offers of help- I'm meeting with Spark people and our partner organisations on Friday and will get back to you with a plan- hopefully that will include a 'model' for other stations to follow and contribute to and then
we can circulate on the list.
>
> I think we need a strong slogan. I am impressed with this campaign at the moment :
>
>

>
>
> So any ideas for an audio SAFEty pin catchline that is inclusive to migrants whether they are long term migrants, temporary migrants (like international students) or people who have recently arrived? "Community radio-your space for solidarity and safety"
...I'm no copywriter
>
> If people are already producing jingles or programmes relating to this it would be great to hear/hear about them.
>
> There have been worrying reports over the last couple of days about the rise in xenophobic and sometimes racist hate speech and behaviours towards citizens from minority ethnic communities, migrants (including 'temporary' migrants such as international students)
and refugees.
>
> Can we in the community media community can do some kind of on air/social media campaign to show how community radio stations are a safe space for these groups? We have plenty of evidence through programmes and stations run by and for these communities over
a long period of time but now I think it is time to shout out more about this.
>
> What do CMA members think about this? Maybe there is already a campaign we can adapt? Any offers to help do or co-ordinate this?
