Pirate Radio has made a significant contribution to broadcasting in this country & it’s sad that politicians don’t recognise it. Pirate Radio , not the BBC, has been the backbone of innovation and others have followed. Luckily we now have the internet where freedom of expression & creative thought is at the forefront. The BBC has a fantastic opportunity to embrace the spirit of pirate radio through the numerous community stations that are still broadcasting but I fear that they will not grasp the nettle.
