<div dir="ltr">The shows that we have with presenters under 18 (the youngest is currently 13) rely on parental/.guardian attendance. Although four of the Directors are Enhanced CRB checked it's not feasible to cover the shows that are presented by them. Most parents/guardians (it's worth checking their role/status) are more than happy to sit in, and in one case has now got a show of their own. I think we've been quite enlightened by what these young persons have wanted to play, and also by their reliability. Work expereince presents almost entirely different issues that have to do with PLI.<br></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On 9 July 2015 at 13:07, Coastal Radio <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:info@coastalradio.co.uk" target="_blank">info@coastalradio.co.uk</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="auto"><div>Hi Dennison, I am now set to be director and am only 18 however I started with Coastal Radio aged 16 and was put straight on air in live shows. </div><div><br></div><div>We did two RSLs, one of which I had a 12-2pm show live, and during our second RSL I was doing the breakfast show life from 7am-10am.</div><div>I had no accompaniment I merely learnt what was right and what wasn't by observing other presenters mainly.</div><div><br></div><div>I think it really depends on you gauging the younger person, I was rather mature for my age probably why I was given so much freedom but I understand others may not be as mature. Does anyone else have under 18s on their station and if so how do
you go about managing them as minors? Do they broadcast live? Are
they supervised? The reason I ask is we're looking to open our doors
to under 18s on a more permanent basis.<br>

We currently offer something called The Youth Academy (<a href="http://www.theyouthacademy.org.uk" target="_blank">www.theyouthacademy.org.uk</a>)
- I spoke to few of you about this in Melton Mowbray - and at
present the main progression route after completing our
workshops/course is being able to present on a regular youth-led
show, however now I'm looking to increase the scope and cater to
young people who want to get more involved more often.</div>

<div>Not to mention a chance to address the 100s of emails I get
every year from young people looking for work experience.</div>
