because they are reaching our audiences, rather than grant handouts.

<DIV>4. Measuring our audiences – through a common methodology such as the one
presented at last year’s CMA Conference by Dr Janey Gordon. (Duncan
Barkes, an LBC presenter, recently tweeted that 10m people a week are listening
to CR. I’ve asked him where that number comes from but he’s not

and hoping for the best. The original model for community radio is now very
outdated and the circumstances behind those early requirements are now very
different. Add to that the fact that so many stations have failed must indicate
the need for change if community radio is to survive. Fingers
crossed.<BR><BR><BR>NOW...I beg everyone not to go down the route of 'common
imaging' for community radio. The beauty of community stations is that they are
all different. I started my career in radio in <B><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">1974.</SPAN></B> In those days it was a joy to listen
to the new stations coming on air all sounding different, unique and original.
Oh how I hated the joining together of stations up and down the country becoming
more and more similar until it became all Heart and no soul. Please don't do
