<DIV>A few weeks ago I wrote to the CMA-L list about our “Folk for the Clutha”
concerts. The Clutha pub in Glasgow, scene of the tragedy last year where 10
people lost their lives, was a well known music venue in Glasgow.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, the whole community was
shocked. But they wanted to help, in whatever ways they could. The idea of a
fundraising concert was suggested by some musicians and some of our presenters,
and the seeds were planted. Celtic Music Radio became the catalyst to bring this
together.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We were extremely pleased with the response to this initial idea. Within a
few days, literally dozens of singers and musicians had offered their
assistance. St Andrews in the Square, a converted church that is now a venue for
Scottish music and cultural events, offered the use of their facilities,
and lots of our listeners said they’d come along. A week later, it had grown
from a simple idea to a 2-night concert in a venue that holds over 300 people. 9
different bands or performers each night, all doing a 20 minute set, and
donating their time and talents.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>No tickets, just donate something in the bucket at the door.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>It took place on Friday and Saturday this week, and each concert was
fantastic. It was broadcast live on Celtic Music Radio in Glasgow, and also on
Dunoon FM further down the Clyde and on Castle FM in Edinburgh. If other
stations wish to broadcast the recording, just ask. It was also broadcast on DAB
digital on the “PopUp Radio” channel across about a third of the DAB
transmitters in the UK. You’ll find Celtic Music Radio there for the next month
as we broadcast from the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I’m delighted to say that these events have raise<FONT color=#333333><SPAN
