to get to!! (Far more trains & planes to <st1:City w:st="on">London</st1:City>
from the frozen North than to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Birmingham</st1:place></st1:City>).
It's better - a decade ago, BA would return trip me to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">London</st1:place></st1:City> for a bought well ahead hundred quid
or so. <st1:City w:st="on">Aberdeen</st1:City> to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Birmingham</st1:place></st1:City> used to be £464. (Not a
typo....!!) Overnight sleeper meant Euston then an expensive peaktime train
back to <st1:City w:st="on">Birmingham</st1:City> or getting off at <st1:place
w:st="on">Crewe</st1:place> at 4am.<br>

Even <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Edinburgh</st1:place></st1:City>
is a (lousy) 4hour drive or multiple trains. We do however have it easier than
people in the Hebrides etc.....<span class=moz-smiley-s1> :-) </span><br>

You're right though - many <st1:City w:st="on">London</st1:City> based folk
regard Doncaster as The North despite there being a mile or two of <st1:country-region
w:st="on">England</st1:country-region> higher up, let alone <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Scotland</st1:place></st1:country-region>!
People in Shetland regard <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Aberdeen</st1:place></st1:City>
as "The South"<br>

So forget <st1:City w:st="on">Birmingham</st1:City> - why not hold one meeting
a year (at least) in <st1:City w:st="on">Newcastle</st1:City>, <st1:City w:st="on">Edinburgh</st1:City>,

We have been working with Donald McTernan since the CMA Conference in June to
take forward his proposals to create a <st1:country-region u2:st="on"><st1:place u2:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">UK</st1:place></st1:country-region></st1:place></st1:country-region>
wide ads agency for the community radio sector, and in the longer run possibly
to include community/local television as well. <br>
<br>
We are now at a point where we would like your views on how it could work for
you (licensed stations/internet radio/RSLs). We would not want to
supplant in any way stations' current advertiser pools but do believe there is
a potential ads market out there for stations that can take on air advertising
and for stations' internet presence as well.<br>
<br>
To that end there will be a meeting in <st1:city u2:st="on"><st1:place u2:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">London</st1:place></st1:city></st1:place></st1:City>
on 7th October - venue to be confirmed later - for people interested in
exploring this with us. <br>
