Now here is an interesting question I have for the list.<div><br></div><div>I think at present Ofcom only has the following options open to them in terms of sanctions for community radio stations.</div><div><br></div><div>

Termination of license</div><div>Suspension of license</div><div>shortening of license</div><div>fine</div><div><br></div><div>Now how do any of these benefit the community station or the community they serve? (As I assume that if a license was terminated they wouldnt allow a new application unless during a formal applications period)</div>

<div>What else could or should Ofcom be allowed to do?</div><div>Do you not find it weird that for example the charities commission can actually go in and take over a failing charity (and / or sack trustees) yet Ofcom dont have any powers to temporary take over a failing station or force directors to resign.</div>

<div><br></div><div>Thoughts?</div><div><br></div><div>M</div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Wed, Aug 3, 2011 at 7:04 PM, Office - ccr-fm <span dir="ltr">&lt;<a href="mailto:office@ccr-fm.co.uk">office@ccr-fm.co.uk</a>&gt;</span> wrote:<br>

The important ppoint here is that the Licensee has to put it to the Site

requires statutory access to the transmission equipment of all

Th other relevant point - as we found out to our cost at XS Wales - is that you
must inform Ofcom as soon as anything goes amiss.<br>
Do that and you are in fact well protected because any complainant is then told
that Ofcom is aware of the situation and it is in hand.<br>
