Free Licence Application Advice Helpline Launched

Radio Regen, the leading community radio development charity, is
offering free advice to would-be applicants for full time community
radio licences the South West and Wales.

On Wednesday May 4th and Tuesday May 10th,
between 10.30 and noon, Radio Regen’s Director, Phil Korbel, will take
calls from groups who are preparing their bids. He can offer advice on
the community radio group development, on sustainable business planning,
programming, funding and operational issues, based on his eleven years
running the charity. Due the high level of expected demand, calls will
be limited to 15 minutes duration per group. If demand is high, new
slots will be made available.

Phil says:

‘When we set up ALLFM and WythenshaweFM in 2002 we had no
idea there was so much to learn, and how little of it was to do with
radio. We were lucky to then be able to capture that knowledge in the
Community Radio Toolkit which is now available on line. We are
dedicated to seeing the UK sector grow and thrive – launching a
help-line seems like a good way to help’

The help-line initiative is part of Radio Regen’s new consultancy service for community radio groups [http://www.radioregen.org/consultancy] which offers bid writing, business and group development, advocacy, mentoring and trouble shooting services.

To book a call please email Phil using this form
or directly to reserve a slot leaving your name, group and landline number. Slots
start on the hour and run at fifteen minute intervals thereafter. It is
highly recommended that callers read the appropriate parts of the
Community Radio Toolkit [www.communityradiotoolkit.net/toolkit]
before talking to Phil in order to maximise the effectiveness of the
conversation. Please note that the free service is limited to the phone
call.

--
Phil Korbel
Director
0161 237 5454

Radio Regen is a community, media and urban regeneration charity
A company limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales No. 3753832
