I attended a session of the Government Third Sector Review in September 2006. The people from the Treasury who were running the meeting knew nothing about community radio, but by the end of the meeting, they went back to London with copious notes and a full knowledge of what community radio is and could be. The three MPs on my patch certainly know about community radio. Every station should be in contact with the local MP/s and should make sure that the MP and local councillors understand what community radio is and what it can achieve. Keep the MPs and councillors in the picture with what you are doing and planning. This will result in community radio permeating local and national Government consciousness. Once MPs and councillors appreciate what is going on in their own patch, they will publicise it. <br><br>Perhaps CMA could produce a handout for use by community stations, stating simply but effectively the role and aims of community radio.
