*'The Radio Ballads and Beyond' *
Sixty years ago the innovative radio producer Charles Parker worked
alongside the musicians Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger to produce the first
of a series of ground-breaking and highly influential radio features - the
Radio Ballads.

This annual conference, which celebrates the radio feature - past, present
and future, will this year examine the influence of these ballads on radio
feature-making and the power of personal oral testimony in projects like *The
Century Speaks* and BBC Radio 4’s *The Listening Project*. Speakers include *Fi
Glover,* award-winning radio producers *Alan Hall* and *Hana Walker Brown*,
musicians *Peggy Seeger* and* Calum MacColl* and dance music producer ‘
*Broadcaster*’. More details will follow shortly.

You can book your place at this year's Charles Parker Day in London through
the British Library website:-

After the conference at 5.30pm you will be invited to hear the winning
entries of this year’s Charles Parker Prize for the Best Student Radio
Feature in full in a special listening event which will interweave the
winning features with extracts from the original Radio Ballads and live
music.
