Fwd:

*Funding for Aspirant Groups in Northern Ireland*

Media Ireland, the community media charity, have relaxed their rules on
funding from their Community Media Rescue Fund to provide seed funding to
aspirant groups applying for a Community Radio Licence in the July and
October 2017 application rounds.

The following conditions apply:

   1. The aspirant group must be applying for a community radio licence in
   Northern Ireland.
   2. The aspirant group can apply for, and be awarded, funding in advance
of their application to Ofcom and, if approved, the funds of any award will
be ring-fenced within the fund pending a licence award by Ofcom to ensure
the funds are there and available.
   3. The group must be in receipt of an Award of Licence from Ofcom before
the funds are drawn down and the offer of funding will lapse 24 months
after any award of a licence by Ofcom (in line with the period allowed by
Ofcom for an applicant to proceed to launch).
   4. The amount of the award to any one group is limited to £30,000 over 2
years (with a maximum of £20,000 in year 1 budget and £10,000 in year 2
   budget).
   5. The fund is primarily for core running costs (including Ofcom BA &
WTA fees and PPL/PRS fees). Any staffing cost is limited to 25% of any
   award.
   6. Up to £1,000 of any award can be used for application/pre-award
costs. This may include the cost of pre-application community workshops,
community research, application fees, company registration or
pre-application administrative costs. As the grant cannot be drawn down in
advance of a licence award, application/pre-award costs must be agreed in
advance and are paid directly by Media Ireland to the relevant supplier.
   7. As the fund is not a general grant, applications must be made and
approved before their application to Ofcom is submitted and can only be
included in financial projections for their application after a Letter of
   Award has been issued.

Application Forms can be obtained by emailing the Chairman of the Trustees
at info at mediaireland.org.

As the funds are limited, the application process is competitive and the
decision of the trust is final. Applications are considered on a first-come
first-served basis.
