[cma-l] Broadcasting (Radio Multiplex Services) Bill 2016-17 - stream

It can be political when it concerns its own future.

Under the Broadcasting Act and Ofcom codes, radio stations are not permitted
to be politically partial or to engage in activities intended to influence
the decisions of statutory bodies (eg it's illegal for a radio station to
support a campaign against the closure of a local hospital or library) *BUT*
there is one exception in law, and that is when the decisions could have a
direct effect on the activities or future prospects of the radio station.

Slightly weird. Conservative Government arguing for not for profit MUX
providers and Labour Shadow Minister asking why commercial bidders excluded!

New politics indeed...
