Congratulations to Hal MacLean, Matthew Eaves and everyone at Chelmsford Community Radio for achieving Ofcom commissioning yesterday on 104.4 - in really quite awful weather conditions.
When we arrived on site to complete yesterday morning there was a 3cm layer of solid frozen slush across the roof at 26m above ground making it perilous to walk and absolutely impossible to work. Fortunately Essex County Hall has an excellent top-floor restaurant open to anyone which gave us the time and inspiration to make some useful progress. Our redoubtable Ofcom engineer decided to brave the journey anyway despite accounts of a skating rink and all went relatively smoothly
Especial thanks to the guys at Mitie - facilities management company for Essex County Hall - for unswerving help and co-operation in difficult conditions.
You are a shining example to - er - other organisations who have the same responsibility. And we now have two clever young ladies who have become proficient in the assembly of an Amphenol model 7860 slant-polarity antenna - and also bringing pizza!
