*Michael Heseltine sheds new light on infamous Westland Affair in
exclusive interview with Yeovil community radio station....*

The Westland Affair of 1985/6 was the biggest financial crisis to affect
the Yeovil helicopter manufacturer in its 100-year history.

It led to the resignations of two Cabinet Ministers and faced Prime
Minister Margaret Thatcher with the gravest crisis of her career.

Hundreds of jobs in Yeovil were put at risk and the very survival of the
Westland business was threatened.
Speaking to Radio Ninesprings for the 'Westland 100 Oral History'
project, former Defence Secretary, Lord Michael Heseltine, explains his
role in the crisis and blames 'shady deals‘ in the City and 'dirty
tricks’ in the corridors of Whitehall for what happened.
