Have had no issues so far with the 5Ghz Gear, most of the links installed have been around 2 to 3 miles, and sending full PCM audio, Ubiqiti units are cheap but packed full of functionality, and give good bandwidth over the Link,
the other benefit is that with most of todays New transmitters they have Lan based management, which allows some great error and statistical reporting.

you can also get units such as the Deva DB8008 Silence detector unit, with built in Sd card player, which allows you to decode RTP streams directly, and provide MP3 backup if the link fails.
The mp3's can also be updated remotely over the link, Obviously you just have to be careful of the amount of data you're using.
