Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Digital Broadcasting: Radio: 41234

*Maggie Throup (Erewash) - Asked on: 24 June 2016*

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, if he will make
an assessment of the potential merits of the introduction of small scale
DAB licensing for community radio stations.

*Mr Edward Vaizey - Answered on: 04 July 2016*

The ten small scale DAB technical trials funded by DCMS have been positive
with more than 80 smaller commercial and community radio stations
broadcasting on DAB for the first time, including some new services. We are
looking at options for new legislation to license small scale DAB
multiplexes.
