We often get asked about how much it costs to operate transmission equipment at a remote site.
I've posted this before, but here is a current appraisal on behalf of a Client:
The equipment in your rack consumes:TX300 at 50W RF = 78VA RDS-1 = 35VADSPX processor = 42VACodec = 5VA Total = 160VA - equivalent to less than 3 of the fluorescent lamps which are on at all times in that lift motor room.Current electricity cost is around 14p per kWh, so annual consumption of your equipment costs:0,16 (kW) x 24 (hours) x 365 (days) x 0,14 (£/kWh) = £196.You could either agree to pay (the site owners) this annually - or they could install a meter if they prefer.
