Subject: [cma-l] Fwd: The Hub Community Radio Station to Continue Broadcasting

Press release
Directors confirm The Hub will stay on air, with newly appointed management and outside investment.
After last week’s disappointing news that The Hub community radio station would be closing down and switching off its transmitters, we are extremely pleased to announce the station will now continue to broadcast for the foreseeable future.
Last week’s public announcement prompted an influx of offers of support, from a variety of groups and individuals, both locally and nationally. After a rollercoaster of a week, today we can confirm the station will be staying on air thanks to outside investment and some fresh faces joining the team.
After a difficult 18 months, new directors, including industry specialists, will be appointed to the board to manage the company. The station will continue to run with its regular, dedicated volunteers, with programming and local output remaining the same.
Today’s announcement has been greatly welcomed by volunteers and the wider community alike, who have been working tirelessly to keep the station on air and broadcasting across Mid Cornwall. Station Manager Pete Appleyard said “I’m so happy to be able to announce that we’ll be staying on air for the foreseeable future. With this new investment and appointments to the board, we’re all feeling reinvigorated and looking forward to an exciting future for The Hub.
“We’re a community radio station, run completely by volunteers and although we’re making this announcement, we always need help and support – both financial and in terms of volunteers. If you’re a good communicator and have a passion for music and the local community, we’d love to hear from you.
“Keep an eye out for us over the summer across Cornwall as we’ll be out and about and are available to attend your event and provide PA services – we could even provide an outside broadcast. And of course, listen out on 106.1 and 106.4 FM. You can also now tune in to The Hub wherever you are, through the Tunein app on your mobile phone.”
