[cma-l] Breakfast Show

Personally, I think most of it is to do with going around in a circle isn't
it ? and running like mad to stand still ....

Nick Wright / Station Manager and GDB - Hamster FM :-)
LOL

On a serious note .. The paying / volunteering is a tricky one. Some do get
paid and they have to get paid because they are in key positions as well as
being more rounded than one or two of the others (not being disrespectful of
course to anyone) someone mentioned about them paying you to
broadcast and then someone else saying they would then think they could do
what they wish. You have to be aware that the '''voluntary''' mentality
still comes into play on this particular topic. Because someone volunteers
it doesn't mean they are a Law unto themselves .....also, you need to define
what volunteering is. They volunteer to do what the Station / Project needs
them to do, they don't volunteer to do what they want to do . even though in
part '''they do''' if that makes sense. It's all about meeting halfway
I think.

It's got sod all to do with ethos and everything to do with financial
survival

I'd much rather be in the position to pay key presenters (breakfast &
drive), rather than ask them for a contribution! I guess it boils down
to the ethos of your station. Quality presenters will hold on to, and
build an audience which appeals to advertisers. Asian Star have always
worked that model and they have been very successful. They also taught me
how to run a station .... which I am now applying at Wycombe Sound. Thanks

Some stations also successfully raise money to keep the station going by
making a small charge per show for volunteers to present the programmes.

Not putting myself forward for this (sorry) but I did wonder what a
"community radio show rate" is?

We pay our presenters a small fee for the shows between Monday-Friday
7am-6pm, and I know other community stations don't.

Dear All,

We are looking for 4 to 6 weeks cover of our breakfast show 5 days a week
7am to 10am is anyone able to help?

Starting next week.

We do pay a community radio show rate for this, it would suit someone quite
local to Heathrow as we are based in sunny Slough :)

If you are interested then you can contact myself or the station manager on
info at asianstar1016.co.uk

Kind Regards
