[cma-l] Ofcom awards four new community radio licences

Ofcom has announced the award of four new community radio licences, in
Northampton, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, and two in Milton Keynes.

Licences have been awarded to NNBC for a service in Northampton, Black Cat
Radio in St Neots, and MKFM and Secklow Sounds in Milton Keynes.

Community radio services are provided on a not-for-profit basis and focus
on delivering specific social benefits to a local area or a community of
interest. Over 200 community radio stations are broadcasting in the UK.

The successful applicants are:

*NNBC (NNBC Ltd)*
Contact name*:* Terry Doyle
NNBC will provide a community radio service for the general population of
Northampton.
*Black Cat Radio (Black Cat Radio Ltd)*
Contact: Tony Gillham
Black Cat Radio will offer a music-led community radio service for St
Neots, Cambridgeshire, and the immediately surrounding area.

*MKFM (MKFM Limited)*
Contact: Chris Gregg
MKFM will serve the population of Milton Keynes and focus on providing
local content specific to Milton Keynes.

*Secklow Sounds (Secklow Sounds C.I.C.)*
Contact: Mike Johnson
Secklow Sounds will also broadcast to Milton Keynes. This service will
cater specifically to the interests of local people who are disadvantaged,
people from diverse backgrounds, the local music and arts scenes and the
voluntary sector.

Licences are awarded for a five-year period.
