*RIBBLE FM APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND SEARCHES FOR PREMISES*


Ribble FM has appointed five new board members to help launch and run the
Ribble Valley’s new local radio station.



Former BBC Radio Lancashire Assistant Editor Ben Thompson has joined the
station, and will utilize his many years of experience at BBC Local Radio
and the BBC training Academy to train and support Ribble FM volunteers.



Ben says: “I am absolutely delighted to be invited to be part of Ribble FM.
Community radio has a vital part to play in bringing different voices
together, sharing stories and being proud of the area in which we spend
time in - whether that be at work, at home or at leisure. The Ribble Valley
has a rich seam of great characters to meet and good tales to hear and in
looking forward to help bring those to the airwaves as well as developing
new talent - in front of and behind - the microphone.“



He joins local businesswoman Kath Lord-Green who has been appointed Station
Manager, and former Smooth Radio Network Producer, Tony Nixon, who is
Programme Manager.



In addition, Gillian Derbyshire, owner of DSM Accountants in Whalley and
John Houldsworth of Holdsworth Solicitors have joined the board as
non-executive directors.



The station is now actively searching for a studio base and applying for
community grants, and would love to hear from interested parties who may
have space available for the not-for-profit project.
