Community radio station 103 The Eye is marking its tenth year of
broadcasting by holding a Community Radio Networking And Information Day in
Melton Mowbray on Saturday, 21 February.

The award-winning station, which serves the Vale of Belvoir on the
Leicestershire-Nottinghamshire border, was the first to launch when Ofcom
originally licensed community radio in 2005.

The Networking And Information Day is open to directors and managers of
community radio stations - both those already broadcasting on FM, AM or DAB
and those which have been awarded licences but are not yet on the air.

The event takes place in the Civic Suite at Melton Borough Council's
Parkside offices, in Burton Street, right next to Melton Mowbray railway
station <https://goo.gl/maps/032eo>, from 10 am until 5 pm.

There will be an address by Dom Chambers, Chairman of the Community Media
Association <http://www.commedia.org.uk>, at 11.30 am with an update on the
latest developments in community radio followed by a question and answer
session. Individual stations will have an opportunity to share their
success stories, with a particular emphasis on innovative ways of
generating income.

"The day will enable those who run stations to meet each other and network
informally so they can exchange information and advice, and share good
practice on a wide variety of topics - everything from finance and
technical issues to programme material and recruitment of volunteers," says
103 The Eye Managing Director Christine Slomkowska.

"In recent years, 103 The Eye has organised several networking meetings
with around a dozen of our neighbouring community stations. This has proved
very useful and popular so we are now taking this idea a step further."

The Community Media Association will be on hand to give information on a
variety of topics, as will main sponsors of the event, J L Morris
(Insurance Brokers) Ltd <http://www.jlmorris.co.uk/insurance/index.php>,
who specialise in community radio insurance. There will be advice on
generating revenue, and broadcast and studio engineers are also attending
to provide advice on technical matters.

Admission to the event is free and a buffet lunch will be provided. Places
are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. To
register your attendance please email business at 103theeye.co.uk by *Wednesday,
18 February*. For more information phone *01664 565315*.
