Subject: Wheelie Big Challenge

To Whom It may concern,

My Name is Stuart Williams. I am doing a big fundraiser this July going
from John O'Groats to Lands End in a Wheelchair.

I am doing this for a national charity called Whizz-Kidz (Registered
charity No. 802872. Company registered in England and Wales No. 2444520.
Charity registered in Scotland No. SC042607).

Whizz-Kidz mission is to transform the lives of disabled children by
providing the equipment, support and life skills they need, when they need
them – giving them the chance to develop their full potential.

I am a non disabled person doing this in a wheelchair, as Whizz-Kidz help
provide the correct mobility equipment for disabled children to live
independent lives, with personalised wheelchairs, tricycles and mobility
equipment.

I am doing this as I have worked for disability sport for years and seen
how hard it was for young people to live independent lives. Also when I was
younger my late cousin was disabled from birth and had to have specialised
wheelchairs made for the family every year.

I have been in touch with a local community radio station (7waves community
radio, Wirral). They are going to be following my progress on this
fundraiser doing daily interviews during the challenge.

Glynn Thomas, from 7waves Radio (92.1 fm) told me to get in touch with
yourselves; as you maybe able to help me spread the word to all your
members of community radio.

Could you please help disseminate my fundraiser information to all your
members?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you can help me with
my request.

Regards

Stuart Williams

Press release

* March 2014*

*Local man taking on a Wheelie Big Challenge for disabled kids in
Merseyside*

This summer, Stuart Williams from Wallasey will be wheeling himself from
John O’Groats to Lands End for national disabled children’s charity,
Whizz-Kidz. Stuart will be hoping to raise £20,000 by self propelling
himself in a manual wheelchair from one end of the country to another to
highlight the inclusive nature of sport for disabled and able bodied people
whilst also raising money to help provide vital mobility equipment and life
skills for disabled children across the UK.

Stuart will be starting off from John O’Groats on 7th July and traveling at
least 50 miles per day to cover the challenge which is just under 900 miles
and aims to reach Lands End within 20 days. Stuart’s background lies in
health, sport and coaching therefore he knows how much difference the right
mobility equipment can make to peoples lives which is why he wants to reach
his target of £20,000. This donation would be able to transform the lives
of up to 5 disabled children by giving them the customised mobility
equipment they need to gain their independence, opportunities to meet and
have fun at their local ambassador club, and training to help them gain
skills and look forward to a bright future.

Stuart says:” Firstly I love a challenge but most importantly and
personally my young cousin Michael, was disabled from birth and his family
had to get specialist mobility equipment year in year out. Without this
mobility equipment Michael’s family would have struggled to give him the
active and independent childhood that all kids need and deserve. I
completely appreciate the freedom we have to exercise, have fun and be
independent and want disabled children and young people to have that same
feeling – this is why I am working so hard to reach my £20,000 target for
Whizz-Kidz”

Whizz-Kidz regional fundraiser for North West England and North Wales, Emma
Jones, said, ‘We are incredibly grateful to Stuart for taking on this
incredible challenge in order to raise money for Whizz-Kidz.

‘I am thrilled to see so many people like Stuart who take up their own
personal community challenge such as this, in order to give disabled
children in Merseyside the chance of a childhood and an independent future.

‘We need more people like Stuart to help Whizz-Kidz reach the 70,000 kids
across the UK who are still waiting for their childhoods to start.’

If you would like to sponsor Stuart, please donate at
