Thursday 20 March, 6.30pm to 9pm, Resonance 104.4fm broadcasts live from the Index Freedom of Expression Awards (

) at the Barbican. The awards recognise international heroes of free expression in advocacy and digital advocacy, journalism and the arts.
Resonance104.4fm's Neil Denny ("Little Atoms") anchors the broadcast live from the awards ceremony, with interviews with Index chair David
Aaronovitch; awards judge, journalist Samira Ahmed and the nominees themselves - including Egyptian rapper Mayam Mahmoud, who uses her music to make a
stand for woman’s rights; Rahim Haciyev, Editor in Chief of Azadliq, one of the few remaining independent media outlets in Azerbaijan; and exiled
Turkish playwright Meltem Ariken, whose "Mi Minor," about a pianist using social media to fight a repressive regime, closed a month before the Gezi
Park protests.
