Community Medai Forum Europe has published the results of its mapping of

*First Country Ranking of Community Media in Europe

Based on a survey to media authorities and national federations 2012 the
CMFE Mapping and Ratings workgroup has mapped of community media in Europe. The
subsequent country ranking of community media in Europe is intended to put
focus on “the third media sector” with national governments, politicians
and media authorities in order to recognize or to improve conditions for
this sector.

The primary ranking results were put together by a CMFE workgroup and have
also been reviewed by the members of the CMFE experts group. Together this
assessment group represents a broad spectrum of experience and knowledge of
the community media sector in various parts of Europe. Classification was
made on an index scale setting a value of national commitment for the third
media sector for each country*.*

The CMFE Mapping & Ranking project will be on the agenda for the CMFE and
AMARC conference events *Media Diversity for Democrac*y in Brno (the Czech
Republic) on 4-6 October 4-6, 2013.
