Hi all,

RadioReverb in Brighton is celebrating after Kathy Caton, presenter of our weekly LGBT show “Out in Brighton”, came second in the best show category in the national “Respect” Awards run by the Co-Op. Out in Brighton is the city’s only FM LGBT show, and Kathy covers a wide range of events, topics and guests and deserves the acknowledgement for producing a high quality programme on a zero budget.

Kathy was also named earlier in the year as one of the UK’s 100 most influential LGBT people in the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List.

This year RadioReverb also started broadcasting the UK’s only Transgender show on FM, “Time 4 T”. Both shows have a wider resonance than just the communities they’re talking about, and their podcasts vie for the top spot in Podomatic’s LGBT category. It just goes to show what a community radio station can achieve on minimal budget but a hell of a lot of goodwill from talented people who care about radio and their listeners. It’s just a pity there’s no money to pay people for these talents and skills.
