[cma-l] Audio crackling

Peter,

I mostly run Linux which has a lot of online and software support. I
Googled your problem which may have something to do with the hard drive
apparently.

Try control panel, hardware, system, device manager, disk drive, there's
a trouble shooter you can run, failing that:

I think DMA is direct memory access which presumably is necessary for
fast data transfer of mp3 at high bit rates.

You could prove this by running lower bit rates of course but I doubt if
that is a practical option.

I think you can mess with the windows registry these days without
wrecking things, but it's a good idea to check the helps on windows
restore points (where you can go back a day or two) in case you have
problems.  I think there are also auto checking processes that look for
registry errors you might have made.
